The last week started with mild disappointment from the Finance Ministry, as there was no GST reduction like we had expected, but there was some reason to cheer as the government also announced a relaxation on corporate tax rates. Carmakers raised our spirits by announcing significant price revisions. Mahindra gave us a sneak preview of its robust new SUV pipeline while Hyundai announced another launch for this year: the facelifted Elantra.
Maruti Cars Passes On Tax Reduction Benefits Via Price Cut
Maruti Suzuki slashed prices by Rs 5,000 on the Alto 800 and K10, Celerio, Swift diesel, Dzire diesel and the Brezza to boost sales. The revised pricing was enforced on the same day that it was announced. It must be noted that Maruti was the first manufacturer to respond to the corporate tax cut by slashing prices. Prices for Nexa models – the S-Cross, Baleno diesel, and the Ignis - have also been revised after applying the discount. To see the new prices, click here.
VW Corporate Editions Launched
Carmakers are finding ways to pass on the benefits of the recent corporate tax cut to customers. One of them is Volkswagen, which has packaged a deal in the form of Corporate Editions for diesel variants of the Polo, Vento, Ameo, and the Tiguan. All models continue to have the 5-year warranty with roadside assistance, except the Tiguan which only gets it in the special edition. Mahindra Roadmap
Mahindra gave us a peek into its projects this week, with a roadmap which had its expected launch timeline. A bunch of new SUVs and trucks are going to make their way to India within the next three years. We got to know a bit about its plans for electrification, with the help of a new all-electric compact SUV. M&M also teased the SUV it is conceptualizing with Ford. New Facelifted Elantra

Maruti S-Presso Fully Revealed
Ahead of its nationwide launch, Maruti Suzuki revealed the un-camouflaged, production-spec S-Presso hatchback. It will go head to head with the Renault Kwid and other budget hatchbacks. We got a look at its interiors from the revealed pictures. The S-Presso will have a Mini-inspired centre console housing two air vents and a touchscreen. The stylish dashboard and Maruti quality will help set it apart in the segment. 14-inch wheels will be the largest in class. Two front airbags and steering-mounted controls are a testament to how well Maruti can execute a budget car. The tall stance and flared wheel arches offer a mini-crossover appearance.
