Toyota And Daihatsu To Make Emerging-Market Compact Car Comp

Toyota, currently one of the world’s largest automotive firms, will form an internal company, called Emerging-market Compact Car Company (EmCCC) along with its fully owned subsidiary, Daihatsu. As the name suggests, the company will have emerging automotive markets across the globe as its top priority. It will also focus on starting competitive cars that will be based on Daihatsu’s approach of producing affordable and high-quality products.

The Japanese auto giant claims that there will be three separate divisions under this newly formed company:

– Emerging-market Compact Car Product & Business Planning

– Emerging-market Compact Car Product Planning

– Emerging-market Compact Car Quality Planning

The business planning division will focus on conducting the overall planning for the products and business operations. The rest of the divisions will be responsible for the development of the final product and ensuring Toyota-brand quality of the vehicles.

Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Engineering and Manufacturing Ltd. (TMAP-EM) will also be renamed to Toyota Daihatsu Engineering and Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TDEM) and will eventually fall under EmCCC. As the company takes shape, Masanori Mitsui, Daihatsu’s president, will be appointed as chairman and Toyota's managing officer Shinya Kotera will be appointed the president of the new internal company.
