Toyota has another surprise for us in store after the imminent launch of the facelifted Innova Crysta. The carmaker could launch the updated Fortuner real soon, and select dealers have even commenced unofficial pre-launch bookings for a token amount of Rs 50,000.
Toyota could offer both the standard and sportier Legender variants of the Fortuner in its updated form. The Fortuner Legender features a Lexus-esque front fascia and dual-tone alloy wheels for that added premium feel. The standard variant, on the other hand, gets subtle upgrades like a redesigned grille, alloy wheels and muscular bumpers. Both variants come with new LED tail lamps.
Updates on the inside are less significant, but it will now feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on its new 8-inch infotainment system. Toyota could also lend the SUV the 9-inch unit seen on the Thai-spec model. The only other update are the redesigned dials.

It could feature new equipment such as a 9-speaker JBL sound system, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, and hands-free boot opening. Features like keyless entry with push-button start, climate control, a coloured multi-info display, cruise control, drive modes and powered driver’s seat will be retained.

The facelifted Fortuner might utilise the existing model’s 166PS 2.7-litre petrol engine, but the diesel variant could benefit from the more powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine developing 204PS of power and 500Nm of torque, 27PS and 50Nm (80 more for manual) than the existing India-spec model. Both engines should be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions as well as all-wheel drive system.
The facelifted Fortuner will command a premium over the current model which is priced between Rs 28.66 lakh and Rs 34.43 lakh. This will be the first major update for the facelifted Fortuner and that could help boost sales, especially in front of competitors such as the MG Gloster, Ford Endeavour, and Mahindra Alturas G4.
