Toyota will be launching it’s all-new Innova Crysta on May 13, 2016 in Mumbai. Interestingly, the manufacturer has already revealed prices for the MPV, which replaces the immensely successfully Innova. Pricing ranges from Rs 13.84 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), going all the way up to Rs 20.78 lakh for the top of the line automatic variant.
The new Innova Crysta is the first all-new Innova in 11 years. Design wise, the Innova Crysta gets a massive hexagonal grille with chrome slats which merge with double barrel headlamps. Headlamps now also come with projectors for the low beam. The rear has been redesigned too and it now sports inverted L-shaped taillights. Overall, the design looks a lot more fresh and elegant than before. However, the silhouette of the MPV remains the same.
Toyota’s all-new MPV comes with an option of two diesel engines to choose from, a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre unit. The 2.4-litre unit churns out 150PS of power, an impressive 50PS more than the car it replaces and also 343Nm of torque. The bigger 2.8-litre unit produces 174PS of power along with 360Nm of torque. The 2.4-litre unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the 2.8-litre unit comes with the added convenience of a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Strong points of the Innova will continue with the Crysta too. Its reputation for being a reliable long-distance people-mover, Toyota’s fuss-free ownership experience and comfortable seating for 7-8 people have been some of the USP’s of this MPV.
