The Innova Crysta has been quite a popular car ever since it came out around this time last year. It has been the highest-selling Toyota in the country for quite some time and now, it is about to get a sportier-looking cousin. The Toyota Innova Crysta Touring Sport will be launched in the country tomorrow and feature cosmetic changes which make it look sportier. Also, this is not really a new edition in the Toyota lineup as the 'Touring Sport' is already available in Thailand as the 'Toyota Venture.'
Speaking of the changes, Toyota has decided to go with the high-contrast combination of black and chrome to give the Crysta a sporty air. The MPV gets black cladding all around with chrome accents on the edges, sides and the grille angles. The 16-inch alloys have been painted black and so has the boot gate panel just below the rear windscreen. The ORVMs get a two-tone treatment and that about sums it up.
Inside, the story remains familiar with the all-black leather upholstery, standard ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control and 7-inch audio system with navigation. Also, the Innova Crysta Touring Sport will only come with the captain seat variant of the MPV.
The Innova Crysta is powered by three engine options - 2.4-litre diesel, 2.8-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol. The smaller diesel churns out 150PS of peak power and a peak torque of 343Nm. This engine only comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The bigger 2.8-litre mill comes mated to a 6-speed automatic and produces 174PS of power and 360Nm of torque. The petrol engine is a 2.7-litre Dual VTT-i unit which produces 166PS of max power and 245Nm of peak torque. It comes with an option of being coupled to a 6-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-certified mileage of this mill with an automatic transmission is 10.83kmpl while the manual returns a fuel efficiency of 9.89kmpl.
The Touring Sport targets the buyers who prefer their cars to have a sporty outlook rather than an elegant appeal. Though the Touring Sport does make the Innova Crysta look different, I am not sure that 'sporty' would be the correct term to describe it. Nonetheless, the Touring Sport will give buyers an option to stand out in a crowd of other Innovas, which is on a rapid rise.
