If you’re a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise, or have been lusting over the Toyota Supra in general, perk up your ears. Toyota is letting us get a first glimpse at the Supra in three days, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Well, sort of. The manufacturer will be showcasing a prototype of the Supra, and the same car will also make the famous hill climb.
Toyota has also confirmed that the Supra will be powered by a front-engined inline-six cylinder engine. The older generation Supra shot to fame because of its monstrous twin-turbo 2JZ motor that was a Lego block for bolt-on modifications. What are the deets on the new motor? Since Toyota is co-developing the new Supra alongside the new BMW Z4, both will share the same 3.0-litre straight-six engine. We’re placing our bets on BMW’s B58 motor that makes 382PS of power and 500Nm of torque in its highest-rated spec. The best bit? No all-wheel drive business. Like always, the Supra will be strictly rear-wheel drive. #ZigApproves.

There are also a few pictures for us to drool over. The pictures show the prototype, alongside the GR Supra Racing concept that was showcased earlier this year in March. And, we’ve got to say, save for the lack of a big rear wing and race-spec aero bits, the prototype looks quite similar. We like how athletic it looks, with its large nose-short tail design philosophy.
The Japanese manufacturer hopes to put the new Supra on sale in international markets by the first half of 2019. We’ve got all our fingers crossed and praying Toyota brings the legend to India. Hey, if Nissan can do it with the GT-R, you can too, Toyota!
