Ford has silently upped the ante against its rivals in the country by boosting the safety of its popular Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire sedan recently. The American carmaker has introduced anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) to the Trend variants of the Figo siblings without hiking the prices of the cars.
The upgrade comes in addition to the dual airbags that the cars featured even before the recent addition, making the cars the best value-for-money propositions in their respective segments. It is also worth mentioning that the lower Ambiente and base variants of the Figo duo are the only ones that won’t come with ABS and EBD as standard equipment now.
Talking money, the petrol variant of the Figo starts at Rs 4.54 lakh for the base variant while the newly improved Trend variant will set you back by Rs 5.23 lakh in its gasoline avatar. Elsewhere, oil burners under the base variant would burn a hole worth Rs 5.63 lakh in your pocket while the Trend trim of the car carries a price tag of Rs 6.33 lakh.
On the other hand, the Figo Aspire petrol is priced at Rs 5.28 lakh for the lowest-spec variant while the Trend bears a sticker price of Rs 5.76 lakh. As for the diesel, the Ambiente and Trend variants are priced at Rs 6.38 lakh and Rs 6.86 lakh respectively (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
This move from Ford comes in after the Indian government is expected to make safety equipment mandatory on all cars in the near future. Toyota and Volkswagen remain the only manufacturers in the country to equip all their cars with ABS and EBD as standard. The Etios and Liva were heavily upgraded in terms of safety earlier this year followed by the Polo and Vento soon thereafter.
