Triumph Motorcycles unveiled the Bonneville Bobber made its international debut at the EICMA motorcycle show in Italy last year. Now the British two-wheeler brand has announced that it will launch the new Bonneville Bobber in India on March 29. As the name suggests, the new motorcycle is based on the classic Bobber styled motorcycles that were hugely popular in America.
The concept of a Bobber bike is simple which is stripping parts off to reduce weight and make the bike faster. The Triumph Bonneville Bobber is kind of a stripped down version of the Bonneville T120. A chopped front fender, chopped and shorty exhaust mufflers, saddle seat, single rear shock point towards weight reduction. Built on an all-new frame, the bike features a classic retro look with the typical single Bobber seat, stripped-back looks and flat bars. The monoshock suspension has been hidden to endow the bike with a hardtail-look frame.
The frame is also a new unit while the bike features shorter front forks to improve handling dynamics. The Triumph Bonnevile Bobber is a single-seater motorcycle and features a floating saddle that looks cool. The saddle position can be adjusted front or back and up or down as per the requirement. Even the single-pod instrument console can be tilted forward or backward to allow better viewing.
Powering the Bonneville Bobber is the 1200cc high-torque motor as seen on the Bonneville T120. Triumph engineers have tuned the engine to offer higher torque to suit the Bobber characteristic of the motorcycle. The motor produces 77PS at 6100rpm of power and 106Nm of torque at 4000rpm. In terms of electronics, the Bonneville Bobber is equipped with ABS, ride-by-wire, traction control and torque-assist clutch. It also comes with two riding modes – road and wet. The new Triumph Bonneville Bobber is likely to be priced around Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom and it will rival the Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber, which carries a premium price tag of Rs 13.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
