[UPDATE: Triumph has launched the Tiger 900 in India with prices starting from Rs 13.70 lakh (ex-showroom India). Head here for details.]
Triumph is planning to finish off all its model launches for the year in the month of June itself. Just a few days back, the Bonneville T100 Black and T120 Black were launched and we came to know that the company was planning to launch the Street Triple R by the end of this month. What about the Tiger 900 then? Well, Triumph recently put out another teaser for the arrival of the bike to our shores but this time with a date: June 19. The bike could be priced between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom India).
A major overhaul was in order for the new Triumph middleweight ADV as the Tiger 900 looks sleeker and more purpose-built than its predecessor: the Tiger 800. The motor now displaces 888 cee cees and while peak power remains the same at 95PS, Triumph has managed to add 8Nm more torque, taking the figure up to 87Nm. This isn’t a bored out version of the old engine, as it gets completely new internals and a new 1-3-2 firing order.
For India, Triumph is only planning to bring the mid-spec road biased version -- the GT -- and both off-road variants: the Rally and Rally Pro. The GT is still well loaded with fully-adjustable Marzocchi suspension units at both ends, Brembo Stylema braking system and dual-purpose Metzeler Tourance tyres. The hardcore versions get even longer-travel Showa suspension components and Bridgestone Battlax Adventure rubber, the Brembo Stylema calipers are the same as the GT variant.
We did take a short spin on both the Rally and GT variants of the bike in Morocco early this year. Head here to know how much of an improvement it is over the old bike.
