Triumph has just revealed the prices of its latest middleweight adventure motorcycle: the Tiger 900. Starting at Rs 13.70 lakh (ex-showroom) for the GT model, it is pricier than the previous model by just Rs 30,700. Even the range-topping Rally Pro model, which is priced at Rs 15.50 lakh, costs Rs 34,000 more. This is fantastic news for those who wanted to get the new ADV. But if you are looking at alternatives in this price bracket, you have limited options, actually only three. Here are your choices:
Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin: Rs 15.35 lakh - Rs 16.10 lakh
The arch rival of the Tiger 900 has also gained cubes, puts out more torques, and has a bucket load of techno updates. Honda also chose to bring the larger Adventure Sports version of the CRF1100L Africa Twin to India which gets a larger fuel tank, larger colour-TFT dash with Apple CarPlay, and a more imposing stance than the regular model. The availability of a manual gearbox just adds to the delight.
Harley-Davidson Low Rider S: Rs 14.69 lakh
Harley-Davidson reserves the S badging for its special variants. This Low Rider S is dynamically more capable, has a larger and torquier motor, revised ergonomics and blacked-out overalls. It is currently the most performance-oriented Harley on sale in India with the updated Fat Bob 114 set to arrive on our shores next year. We did sample this bike in Spain and you can check out our first ride review here.
BMW R 1250 R: Rs 15.95 lakh
If you wanted to experience the charm of a large-capacity boxer twin engine but didn’t want it in an adventure packaging, might we suggest you take a look at the BMW R 1250 R. It is a naked motorcycle carrying over the same 1,254cc boxer twin motor from the R 1250 GS. If its predecessor is anything to go by, this BMW roadster is one of the smoothest motorcycles you will ever ride. And now it is quite superior in terms of tech on offer.
