TVS Motors has equipped its premium scooters, the Wego and the Jupiter with Sync Brake System. Since both the scooters are premium offerings in their respective categories from TVS, they are the first to get it. The SBS from TVS is similar to Honda's Combined Braking System (CBS) in terms of operation.
When the rear brake is applied, the braking force is distributed to the front wheel as well, along with the rear wheel, through a separate cable placed alongside the main front brake cable. What it does, is help control the vehicle effectively by applying braking force on both the wheels at the application of just a single brake, unlike standard braking systems where both the brakes have to be applied. Both the scooters get 130mm drum brakes at the front and the rear for the base variant while they get a 220mm disc at the front on the top variant.
Both the Wego and Jupiter are powered by a 109.7cc engine which develops 8PS @ 7500rpm and 8.4Nm @ 5500rpm. The Jupiter is available in three models, the Z, ZX and the ZX Disc, the latter two being more premium. The ZX and ZX Disc come with beige floorboard and other body panels and a dark brown-coloured seat, unlike the black ones on the Z. Both the scooters are shod with 90/90 – R12 tubeless tyres at the front and the rear, get metal body, external fuel filling lid, telescopic suspensions at the front and coil spring at the rear, alloy wheels and the TVS-patented econometer as standard.
The Wego is priced at Rs 50,934 and Rs 53,852 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the standard variant and the Disc variant respectively. The Jupiter is priced at Rs 49,966, Rs 51,989 and Rs 53,966(ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Z, ZX and ZX Disc variant respectively.
