TVS Motor Company is one of the leading two- and three-wheeler manufacturer in India today with offerings such as the TVS Apache RTR, the Victor, and the Jupiter. The company has now announced that they have sold 2 million units of the Jupiter within 4 years of its introduction.
Some of you may recall that the TVS Jupiter was launched in 2013 along with the popular slogan ‘Zyada ka Fayda’. In early 2016, the Jupiter became the fastest scooter to cross the 1 million sales mark, all within a span of 30 months! The major reason for the Jupiter’s success can be attributed to the many segment-first features that were introduced with the scooter that made it stand apart from its rivals.
However, it is important to note that the Honda Activa, the Jupiter’s primary rival, crossed the 15 million sales mark in April this year. That should give you a sense of the competition that the Jupiter is up against. Yes, the Activa has been around for much longer. Since 2001, in fact. But it wasn’t until 2013 that the sales of the Activa picked up and made up for a major chunk of Honda’s sales figures. While the Activa has remained at the top ever since its introduction, scooters like the Hero Maestro and the TVS Jupiter are working their way to the top too. It will be interesting to see if any of them manage to dethrone the king of the segment.
About the TVS Jupiter
The TVS Jupiter is powered by a 110cc engine that churns out 7.99PS of power and 8Nm of peak torque. The Jupiter is one of the most fuel efficient scooter in its segment with a claimed fuel efficiency of 62kmpl.
The Jupiter also gets TVS’ patented Econometer to guide their riders in both 'Eco Mode' and 'Power Mode'. Moreover, the Sync Braking System (SBS) of the Jupiter ensures a safer and smoother riding experience. It also gets features like an external fuel filler cap, pass light switch, mobile charger and LED tail lamps.
The TVS Jupiter is available three variants - base, ZX, and ZX with disc brake. The homegrown brand recently launched a Classic Edition which offers an old school look along with other everyday features like a USB charger.
The scooter is currently available in Royal Wine, Matte Blue, Stallion Brown, Titanium Grey, Midnight Black, Volcano Red, Pristine White, Jade Green and Mystic Gold.
