TVS has launched the Radeon BS6. The 110cc commuter motorcycle now comes with a greener motor and a substantial price hike. Here’s all you need to know about the TVS Radeon BS6 in 5 brief points.
Gets a more fuel-efficient motor:
Like other BS6-compliant motorcycles, the TVS Radeon BS6 now comes with a fuel-injected motor. The 109.7cc air-cooled motor now delivers 8.19PS at 7350rpm and 8.7Nm at 4500rpm. That’s a drop of 0.21PS over its BS4 predecessor. However, peak torque remains the same and arrives 500rpm early in the rev range. TVS claims it’s Eco Thrust fuel injection technology improves fuel efficiency by 15 percent!
No change in design or features:
The TVS Radeon BS6 continues to use the same bodywork. It gets a halogen headlamp with LED DRL, and bulb tail lamp and turn indicators. The analogue instrument console gets a malfunction indicator but otherwise is the same as the BS4 Radeon.
No change to underpinnings:
The Radeon BS6 has the same underpinnings as before. It gets a single cradle frame with telescopic forks and 5-step adjustable dual shock absorbers. The base variant continues to use a 130mm front and 110mm rear drum brake with CBS. The Radeon BS6 gets 18-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The only change is the 4kg increase in weight. The base variant Radeon BS6 now weighs 116kg.
Retains the CBOTY special edition variant:
Despite this being a new year, the Radeon BS6 gets a Commuter Bike Of The Year variant. This variant gets a 2 colour options -- Chrome Black and Chrome Brown. It gets a rubberised tank top pad, knee pads, brown stitched seat, chrome mirrors and metal levers. This edition also gets a disc brake variant that features a 240mm front disc. The CBOTY disc brake variant weighs 2kg more than the standard Radeon BS6.
Gets a substantial price hike:
The Radeon BS6 comes in three variants -- Base, Commuter Bike of the year (drum) and Commuter Bike of the year (disc). The price difference ranges from Rs 6,600 to Rs 8.700. That’s quite a lot for just an additional fuel injection setup and a catalytic convertor.
TVS Radeon Variants | BS6 Price | BS4 Price | Premium for the BS6 model |
Drum | Rs 58,992 | Rs 52,360 | Rs 6,632 |
Special edition drum | Rs 61,992 | Rs 54,260 | Rs 7,732 |
Special edition disc | Rs 64,992 | Rs 56,360 | Rs 8,632 |
