TVS has given its most successful scooter the Scooty Pep a refreshed look and a new heart
TVS Scooty Zest

Aside from the Honda Activa, if there is one scooter that has managed to make space for itself it the segment it is the TVS Scooty. The Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer has given its most successful scooter brand a much needed makeover. TVS will launch the Scooty Zest on August 20.

While the Scooty has been the choice of wheels for young girls mainly for its light weight and small size, its successor, the Scooty Zest comes across as a lot more mature. Despite the fact that the Scooty Zest is an all new design, TVS has been smart to retain some of the styling cues from the outgoing model. The front fascia is an evolution of the Scooty Pep’s design but with larger and more contoured head lamps. From the side and the rear three-quarter though, the Scooty Zest is strikingly different. The boomerang shaped design and the LED tail lamps, in particular, are very attractive.

While it does get an update as far as styling is concerned, the TVS Scooty Zest also gets a bigger heart. It will now be based on the same platform as the Wego and in fact host the same 110cc CVTi unit too. TVS hasn’t revealed the power and torque figures as yet but the company claims that it will be a lot more fuel efficient. Needless to say that the change of engine and design makes the Zest heavier than its predecessor, but TVS has managed to keep a check on the seat height by continuing with the 10-inch wheels.

Like the Pep, the Scooty Zest will continue to target young girls and will take on the likes of the Honda Activa i, Suzuki Let’s and the Yamaha Ray.
