TVS recently hiked the price of its flagship Apache RR 310 by Rs 8,000, thus taking it to the revised price tag of Rs 2.13 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). However, we have now discovered that one of its popular scooters, the TVS Wego, has received a price cut, making it more affordable by upto Rs 2000. As a result, the scooter now retails at Rs 50,165 for the standard version and Rs 53,083 for the disc brake variant (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
The TVS Wego is powered by the same 109.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that powers the TVS Jupiter and TVS Scooty Zest 110. The motor delivers 8PS of power at 7500rpm and 8.4Nm of torque at 5500rpm. Though all the three scooters have the same engine and specs, their differences in weight and wheel size make them perform differently.
The Wego was among the first scooters from TVS to come with symmetrical body weight distribution. What this means is that the weight is equally distributed on the left and right side of the scooter. This balance makes manoeuvring the scooter in tight spaces at low speeds a lot easier.
Suspension duties are managed by front telescopic forks and a rear hydraulic monoshock. The drum brake-equipped Wego gets Sync Braking, which is similar to Honda’s CBS (Combined Braking System) technology. The 220mm front disc brake-equipped version doesn’t get this technology.
The TVS Wego competes against the likes of the Hero Pleasure, Yamaha Ray ZR and the Honda Aviator.
