- TVS also announced its new rider lineup for 2020 Dakar and its official riding gear merchandise.
A lot of interesting events are being held at the TVS MotoSoul Bike Festival currently underway in Goa. The bike maker has announced its rider lineup for the 2020 Dakar rally and pulled the wraps off the XL Goa edition. It is a custom creation based on TVS’ workhorse, the XL100 moped. This is TVS’ way of paying homage to the humble moped that changed fortunes for the company. The other reason was to showcase how easy it is to customise the moped and inspire customers to do the same. This custom moped has been neatly executed and looks like a fun runabout—a stark departure from the XL100’s utilitarian roots.
For one, the bright blue and fluorescent yellow paint job gives the right kind of beach vibes. It is a single-seater with a rear parcel shelf in place—a viable place to carry a coolbox filled with, erm..., soft drinks for the beach. We love the sporty-looking headlamp cowl with a round headlamp that features LED lighting.
TVS has raided its parts bin to create this moped. For example, the digital instrument console has been lifted off the NTorq 125. It gets a custom tail lamp and clear lens turn indicators. The XL Goa also features a front disc brake and knobby tyres for riding on the beach.
Sadly, TVS has no immediate plans of putting the XL Goa into production. A pity as it could be a fun scoot to hire and ride in beach towns like Goa.
