India’s Fastest EV Bike To Go On Sale In 2022

The EV space in India has witnessed a lot of action over the past few months, and there are no signs of it slowing down. Ultraviolette has announced that its first electric offering for the Indian market, the F77, will go on sale by March 2022. The Ultraviolette F77 was first showcased in 2019, and we also rode the prototype and came back impressed. You can read about our first ride experience here.

The F77 was supposed to go on sale in late 2020, but COVID-19 delayed the project. However, the lockdown was beneficial for the company as it allowed them more time for development. The result? Improved performance and range. The Bengaluru-based EV startup in 2019 had claimed a range of 130km. However, the F77’s production version has a claimed range of 150km.

Highlights of the electric bike include a 0-60kmph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 140kmph both claimed figures). If the above is true, the Ultraviolette F77 will be the fastest electric bike to go on sale in India.

The F77 comes with remote diagnostics over-the-air (OTA) upgrades, regenerative braking, multiple ride modes, ride diagnostics, navigation, and more.

Ultraviolette also announced that it is setting up a manufacturing and assembling facility near Electronic City on the outskirts of Bangalore. Production for the first batch is expected to start in Q1 of 2022, with deliveries following in March the same year. The Ultraviolette manufacturing plant will have an annual capacity of 15,000 units in its first year, and the company has plans to scale it up to 1.20 lakh units in the future.

The company claims that it has registered over 40,000 booking interests for the F77 domestically and internationally. Pre-orders will commence later this year, but Ultraviolette hasn’t shared any pricing details. That said, we expect the base variant to be priced around Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
