An advanced version of the original Cruise Control Technology, the Adaptive Cruise Control function now allows the driver to target set speed and your desired time gap to the vehicle in front of you

Modern Traffic conditions have actually made it more and more difficult to use a conventional Cruise Control System. Unpredictable overtaking maneuvers and frequent changes in the speed of vehicles before and behind you forces the driver to inevitable make changes to Cruise Control Settings to adjust to the volatile traffic conditions.

Since 2009, the Bentley Flying Spur and the Flying Spur Speed models have adapted an advanced version of the former Cruise Control Technology, which is known as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and unlike its predecessor now classifies as a comfort feature in the Bentley Flying Spur, and hence no longer qualifies as a safety function.

The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) uses a radar mounted to the front grill of the car that monitors the ongoing traffic conditions. The benefit of ACC is that you can target set speed and your desired time gap to the vehicle in front of you, and once set your car will autonomously maintain this distance upto your set speed.

The ACC System has a driver selected set speed between 20 miles per hour and 130 miles per hour or 30 km/hr and 210 km/hr. The maximum positive acceleration is about 20% of maximum acceleration and the deceleration limit is about 30% of full braking.

One of the unique features of the Adaptive Cruise Control Technology that is an exclusive with Bentley cars is its Follow-to-Stop system, which allows the car to go down to 0 km/hr and come to halt without even having to touch the wheel or brake pedal. What this means to customer is that the driving experience is a lot smoother and comfortable for the driver and the passengers alike.
