Jeep is also planning to launch a 7-seater version in India based on the Compass’ platform
  • The Compass facelift will feature redesigned front and rear end.
  • The cabin will see major changes with a bigger infotainment system.
  • That said, powertrain options are expected to remain the same.
  • The Compass facelift is expected to debut in 2021.

On our last news about Jeep, we had mentioned the company’s detailed route map for India. The new plan will be kickstarted by the Compass facelift followed by a 7-seater SUV and then a sub-compact SUV. As it turns out, a report claims to have got some insider information on both the facelift and the 7-seater version.

Aesthetically, the Compass facelift is expected to feature a revised front-end featuring slim headlights. The seven-slot grille could move up along with that. The lower bumper design will also see some changes such as a different lower air dam or fog lamp housings.

The rear end will also be subject to similar changes with redesigned tail lamps and bumper design. That said, the number plate housing is expected to remain the same. Coming to the 7-seater, the report claims that the rear end design will be distinct, along the lines of Harrier and Gravitas. It will obviously be longer with more room on the inside for the third row.

Although we will be getting a 7-seater full-size SUV to rival the likes of the Ford Endeavour, it is likely to be based on the same platform as the Compass. Going by this, the 7-seater SUV could either be based on the Compass or a completely new model altogether. It is too early to comment but we expect to find more information towards the end of this year. In true Jeep fashion, the 7-seater SUV will be capable off the road.

As we reported before, the cabin will feature a new design complete with a bigger and better infotainment system. The SUV might also gain some driver assistance features. Brazil will get a new 1.3 Firefly flex engine mated to a new CVT gearbox. Closer to home, Jeep will most likely offer the Compass with the existing 170PS 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine and the 163PS 1.4-litre Multiair turbocharged petrol engine.

Apart from these two SUVs and the Venue-rivalling subcompact SUV, Jeep is also looking forward to bringing in two iconic models to India. Emerging competition has not been fair to Jeep with falling sales numbers. The American SUV maker has an ambitious plan laid out for India which will roll out with the Compass facelift by 2021.
