Toyota has officially revealed the Urban Cruiser on its website ahead of its September launch. Pre-launch bookings are open for a token amount of Rs 11,000 and can be done online as well. A closer look at the online booking portal has revealed the Urban Cruiser’s variants.
The Urban Cruiser will be offered in three variants: Mid, High and Premium. We suspect these variants will be similar to the Vitara Brezza’s VXI, ZXI and ZXI+ trims. All three variants can be had with either manual or automatic transmission. Here’s how it could be priced when compared to the Vitara Brezza:

Urban Cruiser (Expected Prices) |

VXI / Mid |
Rs 8.35 lakh |

Rs 9.50 lakh |

Just like the Glanza, we expect the Urban Cruiser’s introductory pricing to be slightly lower than the Brezza. What could also draw customers to Toyota is its superior three-year/one lakh km warranty which beats the Brezza’s two-year/40,000km package, coupled with its exceptional after-sales back up.
Most of you already knew how the Urban Cruiser will look, courtesy a leaked brochure. Here's a quick recap: the Urban Cruiser’s fascia follows Toyota’s design language with a twin-slat grille and muscular fog lamps housings that add to its presence. The rest of the design is almost identical to the Vitara Brezza.

Except for the new coffee-brown colour scheme, the Urban Cruiser’s interior layout remains similar to the err… Vitara Brezza. You can have a closer look at its features and colour options right here.
The Urban Cruiser will be offered with the familiar 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine from Maruti’s stable. You can have it with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. The automatic variants also come fitted with a mild-hybrid system for torque boost and start-stop functions.
The Urban Cruiser is expected to reach showrooms in September. It will fight it out with the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XU300 and the upcoming Kia Sonet.
