Aprilia showcased the updated Factory variants of both the RSV4 and the Tuono V4 1100, at the ongoing 2018 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. While the RSV4 gets a power bump of 16PS, the Tuono gets all-new Ohlins semi-active suspension.
Starting with the flagship, Aprilia has given the RSV4 quite a few updates. For starters, the engine capacity has gone up to 1074cc, an increase of 100cc. As a result, it now makes 217PS of power, a bump up of 16PS from the older model. This has been done by increasing the bore from 78mm to 81mm, while the stroke remains the same at 52.3mm. Also, the red line has now been pushed to 13,200rpm, for taller fifth and sixth gear ratio.
The Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory, on the other hand, now gets an all-new Ohlins semi-active suspension setup. According to Aprilia, this helps the motorcycle in automatically adjusting the suspension setup according to the surface and the rider's need. This is done with the help of a Smart EC 2.0 system, which constantly collects data from the suspension, brakes, throttle and the IMU to make the adjustments.
Along with the two fuel-guzzling motorcycles, Piaggio’s scooter division, Vespa also showcased the production version of the Elettrica. Available in two variants, Vespa claims that the Elettrica has a range of 100km for the standard variant and 200km for the X version, on a single charge. Speaking of which, the scooter can be charged to full in 4 hours.
Along with the updated RSV4 and Tuono V4, the company also showcased the RS660 concept. As the name suggests, it packs a 660cc, lquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. While numbers are unconfirmed, it is expected to produce around 110PS of power.
The RS660 looks quite similar to the RSV4. It gets a forwardly biased design with a sleek tail section area. Just like the Aprilia RSV4, the concept too gets aero winglets. Being a concept, the RS660 gets an extensive carbon-fibre treatment all over the body. However, we expect thr production version to shed all this, for cost-saving measures. While Aprilia hasn't given us an exact timeline, the RS660 concept is expected to go into production by sometime next year. Will it come to India? Most likely.
