The Volkswagen Taigun GT has started arriving at dealerships ahead of its launch on September 23. Online bookings for VW’s compact SUV are already underway on the official website, and you can book one at your nearest dealership as well.
The Taigun’s ‘GT’ moniker will be reserved for the larger 1.5-litre TSI engine (the 1-litre TSI mill will be provided in the standard variants). To provide more options for buyers, the carmaker will offer the Taigun GT in two variants: GT (manual) and GT+ (DSG). The latter will pack extra features like a digital driver’s display and sunroof.
Take a look at the detailed specifications of both engines:
Parameter |
VW Taigun 1.0 TSI |
VW Taigun 1.5 TSI |
Power (PS) |
115PS |
150PS |
Torque (Nm) |
178Nm |
250Nm |
Transmission Option |
6-speed manual / 6-speed torque converter automatic |
6-speed manual / 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) |
The Taigun GT will get a distinctive wheel design and red brake callipers to separate itself from the standard compact SUV. There are, of course, the ‘GT’ badges on the grille, fenders, and tailgate.
Inside, the ambient lighting and digital driver’s display get the same red theme instead of the standard model’s white and blue finish, respectively. The ventilated seats, however, will be limited to the 1-litre TSI trims only.
Now, to the features. The VW Taigun gets an 8-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, cruise control, and keyless entry with push-button start.
Passenger safety is secured by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring.
The VW Taigun will likely be priced from Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same league as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming MG Astor.
