The Volvo S60 Polestar marks the Swedish carmaker's entry into the performance sedan space in India. The Polestar division has over two decades of experience, but it's only now that the Indian audience will get a taste of their fast, blue cars.

The new Polestar is based on the petrol-powered S60 T6 sedan, which also gets a supercharger and a turbocharger strapped to its 2.0-litre engine. The Polestar, though, makes 367PS of power and 467Nm of torque, which is 61PS and 67Nm more than the T6.

The run-of-the-mill S60 T6 gets a front-wheel drivetrain and a good amount of torque steer to deliver a nought-to-hundred acceleration figure of 5.9 seconds. The Polestar's superior all-wheel-drive system, however, helps put all that power down to the ground to deliver a 0-100kmph acceleration figure of 4.7 seconds. That's only a hair slower than the Mercedes-AMG C43's figure of 4.6 seconds but a whole lot faster than the Audi S5's time of 5.1 seconds. Impressive numbers, because the Polestar has two fewer cylinders and is also short on displacement by a litre compared to the two Germans. But, let's not forget, the new S5 is on the horizon, which is quicker - Next-Gen Audi A5 And S5 Revealed.

Lately, Volvo is taking its sweet time to deliver some impressive products by revamping its portfolio starting from the top. After the all-new S90 sedan, the XC90 SUV and its plug-in hybrid T8 variant, the company has diverted its attention towards the XC60 mid-size SUV. The S60 is expected to be next in line for a thorough makeover, but that seems to be some time away. The launch of the S60 Polestar should lend the sedan a fresh lease of life until it comes of age and is replaced by its successor.

We're expecting the S60 Polestar to carry an attractive price tag between Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh to make up for its age and maintain footfall at the Volvo dealerships.
