Subsequent to a slew of launches in the recent past, Volvo will now bring in the new S60 in a petrol variant on July 3. The entry-level luxury sedan offering from Volvo was only available in D4 and D5 diesel variants so far. Manufacturers have been trying to focus more attention to petrol offerings lately, mainly considering that the difference between prices of the two fuel (gasoline and diesel) has reduced. The launch of the S60 T6 is Volvo’s step to live this change.
The Volvo S60 T6 will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol unit that pumps 306 horses of power and 400Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheel via a 8-speed automatic transmission.
As far as looks are concerned, the Volvo S60 T6 will look identical to the diesel. The entry-level offering will follow the ‘designed around you’ philosophy. The four-slat grille is new and is complimented by projector type headlights with Daytime Running Lights on either side. The bumper too has been given a new shape. At the back, the S60 sports a typically Volvo design with the boomerang shaped LED taillights, the Volvo logo on the boot and the twin-exhausts at the bottom.
The Volvo S60 will only be launched in the top-end T6 variant which is expected to be priced around Rs 35 lakh. When it is launched, the Volvo S60 T6 will compete against the likes of the BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
