Amid a frenzy of launches that have taken place this week, Swedish carmaker Volvo also jumped on the bandwagon on Thursday by launching facelifts of two of its models – the V40 and the V40 Cross Country. The former has been priced at an unchanged Rs 28.53 lakh, while the latter will set you back by Rs 27.2 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi), unaltered as well. It's worth mentioning here that Volvo has dropped the Kinetic variant of the V40 from its Indian lineup.
Speaking of the V40, the hatchback made its debut around the Geneva Motor Show in March this year as Volvo ensured that the car is kept in line with the rest of its lineup. As a result, the facelifted V40 comes with Thor’s Hammer LED headlights like the ones we have already seen on the XC90 and the S90. The front fascia also sports a new grille and an upgraded Volvo Iron Mark logo.
The cabin features three different leather trims for the new V40. To add to the overall appeal, the hatch will also come with contrast stitching in the door inserts and a black headliner as optional fitment. The MY2017 feature offers ample in-car smartphone connectivity options.
Engine options under the hood of the V40 have been retained from the outgoing model in the form of the D2 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel unit that has been made more eco-friendly than ever, according to the company. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed automatic gearbox.
With the prices remaining unchanged for the new V40, the new Volvo V40 is all set to fight it out with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the BMW 1 Series and the Mini Cooper 5 Door in this segment.
Moving on to the Cross Country version of the V40, it carries similar upgrades as its hatchback sibling, both on the outside and the inside. The only major difference is the additional 2.0-litre T4 petrol motor that is offered under the hood, as the car is offered with one petrol and diesel variant each.
Moreover, the carmaker also launched a new 3S facility in Kochi on the occasion. The 3S implying showroom, sales and service, through which Volvo plans to expand its reach across the Indian subcontinent.
Variant-wise pricing (ex-showroom Delhi):
- V40 R-Design: Rs 28.53 lakh
- V40 Cross Country D3 Inscription: Rs 29.4 lakh
- V40 Cross Country T4 Petrol (Momentum): Rs 27.2 lakh
