Bhoomi Pujan underway at the Centralized Traffic Control Centre site

Pune Police has conducted bhoomi pujan at the site where the Centralized Traffic Control Centre will be set up. The city police's traffic branch, along with Rotary Club of Pune Baner Charitable Trust, had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Volkswagen India on November 28. Volkswagen India has contributed Rs 55 lakh towards this project. The intent behind this project is to efficiently monitor traffic and manage the same at all times in Pune. The aim of the centre is to minimize the response time in cases of accident and emergency.

With the establishment of the centre, Pune cops aim to efficiently manage traffic signals according to traffic density throughout the day. The centre will also be used to issue e-challans that Pune traffic police wants to implement soon. The Centralized Traffic Control Centre will help Pune traffic police to effectively and efficiently manage the available manpower and utilize them for more tasks in traffic management. The data from 260 cameras installed at key locations will be fed to the centre and will help in keeping an eye on violators and offenders of traffic laws.
