With a charging capacity of 125kw, the ID.3 is also one of the fastest charging EVs in its segment

  • The ID.3 is the first model in VW’s all-electric ID range.
  • It will get battery range options from 330km up to 550km.
  • High-capacity batteries will also make their way to the ID EV range in the future.
  • The ID.3 will be launched at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Volkswagen has announced that it will offer high-capacity battery options as well as an 8-year /160,000km warranty for its upcoming ID.3 EV and future vehicles in its upcoming all-electric range like the ID. CROSS, ID. VIZZION and the ID. ROOMZZ.

The ID.3 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric model from its all-new ID. range. It will be the first production car to utilise Volkswagen’s new MEB electric architecture. Volkswagen has revealed that the ID.3’s three lithium cells will have a charging capacity of 125kw and can be charged to get a range of 260km within just 30 minutes. This makes the ID.3 one of the fastest charging EVs in its segment.

The ID.3 will have battery options with a maximum range of 330km to 550km. These battery variants have been introduced to provide options to prospective customers. Volkswagen also claims that its battery tech will maintain 70 percent efficiency over a 8 year/160,000km warranty period, which should also make the ID.3 one of the more reliable EVs in its category.

As a part of Volkswgaen’s ID. platform rollout, Volkswagen will also offer various wall box domestic charging points for owners to charge their EVs overnight or during a working day. These wall boxes which can be installed at home or work will have a charging capacity of up to 11Kw (AC) which has a shorter charging time than a 230-volt supply. Volkswagen expects to have 50 percent of all charging periods to occur at home and 20 percent at work and the rest in public places.
