The resulting F155 Concept gets a Deltabox frame, upside-down fork and monoshock

Underbone mopeds don’t usually carry an image of flamboyance or sportiness, but Yamaha is here to provide an exception to that rule with its new F155 Concept. At the launch of its new Exciter 155 moped (or MX King 155, depending on where you live), Yamaha wowed the Vietnamese public by unveiling the F155. Even more exciting is the fact that the F155 represents the direction that Yamaha will pursue for the next generation Exciter/MX King.

That’s great news, because the F155 looks like a love child between a sportsbike and a moped. If the displacement figure hasn’t given it away already, the F155 is powered by the same 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder VVA motor that powers the R15. The R1-style ram-air intake is surrounded by aerodynamic appendages and LED lights that give the F155 an extremely futuristic appearance. Holding everything together is a Deltabox-style perimeter frame and suspension duties are handled by an upside-down fork and monoshock. Heck, even the R15 doesn’t get a USD fork in India!

This being a concept, it can get away with things like a sporty single seat and a free-flowing exhaust system that exits through the belly. Needless to say, there’s absolutely no chance of the F155 or any of its resultant road-going models ever making their way to India, so enjoy these pictures, because it’s probably as close as you’ll ever get to one of these.
