The Yamaha Fascino 125 FI Hybrid has finally made its way to the dealerships and we’ve got our hands on it. While the brochure images look good, nothing does quite as much justice as an upfront look. So, here are some detailed images of India’s first hybrid scooter.
Sporting the same retro panache as the previous model, the Fascino 125 FI Hybrid has been updated with new features. It now gets an LED headlight (disc brake variant only) with a horizontal DRL and LED illumination at the rear as well. However, the turn indicators continue to be halogen units.
One of the major updates for the Fascino 125 FI Hybrid is the addition of the SMG (Smart Motor Generator) to its 125cc air-cooled motor. It makes 8.2PS and 10.3Nm (0.6Nm more torque). The SMG assists in getting off the line quicker without jolts. The electric motor goes off after three seconds of starting or once the engine has exceeded the programmed rpm.
Next on the updates list is the new instrument console. The Fascino 125 FI Hybrid now gets an LCD with Bluetooth connectivity provision via the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X App. You can access the riding history, answer phone calls and locate the scooter as well. But these features are limited to the disc brake variant only.
The side stand engine cutoff is standard while Yamaha offers the USB charging port as an accessory.
Retaining the suspension setup, the Yamaha Fascino 125 FI Hybrid gets a telescopic front fork and a single rear shock absorber. Meanwhile, the braking hardware consists of a 190mm disc/130mm drum at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear.
Yamaha has managed to keep the weight down to 99kg, thereby making the Fascino 125 FI Hybrid the lightest 125cc scooter. It rolls on a 12-inch front and a 10-inch rear alloys wrapped in 90/90 and 110/90 tyres respectively.
The fuel tank capacity has gone from 5.2 litres to 5.3 litres with the underseat storage remaining the same as before at 21 litres.
With the seat height at 780mm, flat-footing shouldn’t be an issue for most riders.
Yamaha has priced the Fascino 125 FI Hybrid at Rs 72,000 for the drum brake variant and Rs 77,530 for the disc-brake (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
