Yamaha caught everyone off guard with the unveiling of the Fascino 125 Hybrid launch alongside the FZ-X. The retro-styled Yamaha scooter packs more features and more so, unique ones. Let’s check it out in these detailed images.
It still gets the curvy bodywork and the sweeping rear end.
The halogen headlight has made way for an LED unit on the top-spec version. The spread is wide but not quite as effective as of the Suzuki Access 125’s headlight.
Talking of features, you now get a fully digital instrument console on the Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid. It even offers smartphone connectivity for the disc brake variant. However, we wish the console could’ve been more elaborate and served details like real-time mileage and distance-to-empty.
Meanwhile, the fit and finish of the switchgear is up to the mark and comparatively better than before.
One of the main talking points of the new Fascino 125 is the motor. It’s a 125cc air-cooled motor assisted by a mild-hybrid system. The output is rated at 8.2PS and 10.3Nm (0.6Nm more torque).
In the real world, the change is notable on the acceleration front. The scooter manages to do 0-80kmph in 16.89 seconds (V-box tested), that’s 0.95 seconds quicker than the previous model.
Not just that, the engine feels more lively and still returns 68.75kmpl. Compared to the older scooter, the updated one manages to squeeze 2.83kmpl more.
The ride quality of the Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid has taken a small hit. The monoshock is dialled a bit on the firm side and sends jolts to the back if not ridden with caution over bad roads.
What’s rather commendable is the scooter's 99kg weight, despite the addition of new features. The Fascino 125 Hybrid is one of the lightest scooters in its segment. Moving it in and around a tight space isn’t much hassle.
All in all, the updates on the Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid have worked in its favour. This makes it a good proposition for anyone looking to buy a practical and good-looking 125cc scooter
