Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 5 Things To Know

Yamaha has unveiled the next-generation FZ 25 BS6. Apart from its cleaner motor, the SC 25 BS6 gets a new look as well. Here are 5 important things you need to know about the improved FZ 25 BS6.

It gets a new look:

The Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 gets a new headlamp setup and engine cowl. The rest of the bodywork including the fuel tank has been carried over. It will be available in two colours: Metallic Black and Racing Blue. The underpinnings remain unchanged.

The headlamp is brighter now:

One of the BS4 FZ 25’s biggest bugbears was the poor intensity from its LED headlamp. The new LED headlamp gets a projector beam setup so we can expect better illumination. The tail lamp also has LED lighting but the turn indicators continue to use a bulb setup.

Gets a premium FZS 25 variant:

Like the 150cc FZ-FI BS6, the FZ 25 gets a premium FZS 25 variant. It gets a larger windscreen and knuckle guards and will be positioned as a touring-friendly motorcycle. It will come in three colours: Dark Cyan, Dark Matte Blue and Metallic White.

New BS6 motor does not miss out much on performance:

The BS6-compliant 249cc air-cooled and fuel-injected motor delivers 20.8PS at 8000rpm and 20.1Nm at 6000rpm. That’s a drop of just 0.1PS and 0.1Nm over its BS4 predecessor. Weight too has increased by just 1kg. With these factors in place, we reckon the drop in performance will be insignificant.

Expect a price hike:

We expect the new Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 to command a premium of around Rs 5,000 over its BS4 predecessor. With the price hike, the Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 is expected to retail around Rs 1.4 lakh. The more premium FZS 25 BS6 could retail for Rs 1.45 lakh. While the new motorcycle was expected to launch in March, the coronavirus lockdown means the launch could be delayed till May.
