Yamaha India has launched its most powerful bike to be built locally in India. The new Yamaha FZ25 has been priced at Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new motorcycle is powered by a 250cc engine and will compete against the likes of the Apache RTR200 and KTM 200 Duke. The Yamaha FZ25 has a muscular and chiselled styling that is reminiscent of the 150cc Yamaha FZ, albeit with larger proportions.
The sharp and sculpted styling will surely appear to youngsters. The bike has a streetfighter riding posture with a saddle height of 795mm. The party piece of the Yamaha FZ25 has to be its LED headlight. This makes the new Yamaha 250cc bike the second locally manufactured motorcycle after the Dominar 400 to offer LED headlamps. It also features a LED tail lamp and the stubby exhaust muffler design is also similar to the one found on the Yamaha FZ Version 2.0, but has been beefed up to flow with the overall larger dimensions. Another highlight is the LCD instrument cluster that displays the speed, engine rpm, fuel and odometer. It also provides additional information like fuel reserve trip meter, clock, instant fuel economy and average fuel economy.
As the name suggests, the Yamaha FZ25 will be powered by an oil-cooled, 249cc, fuel injected, single-cylinder motor with Yamaha's Blue Core technology that delivers 20.9PS of max power and 20Nm of peak torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox. The Yamaha FZ25 will return a mileage of 43kmpl as claimed by the company. Suspension duties will be handled by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Stopping power is achieved from a 282mm disc with a 2-pot calliper at the front and a 220mm disc with a single-pot calliper at the rear. ABS has been given a miss to keep cost low.
The new Yamaha FZ25 is available in three colour options, namely - Knight Black, Ballistic Blue and Warrior White.
