With a price tag of Rs 136 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the new Yamaha MT-15 isn’t exactly what we were hoping for. While it does get the same engine and chassis as the R15 V3.0, Yamaha has cut corners quite a bit in a bid to reduce costs. However, even after removing kit like the USD forks, aluminium swingarm and a dual-channel ABS, the MT-15 is only around Rs 3,350 more affordable than the R15 V3.0.
That said if you've already made up your mind to go for performance naked bike, here are some of the accessories that you ought to consider.
Tank pad - Rs 190
Seat Cover - Rs 350
Pillion footrests - Rs 450
Skid plate - Rs 500
Handlebar-mounted USB charging port - Rs 750
Mobile holder - Rs 350
Unlike the bike, the add-ons aren't as expensive. On the flip side, the list is quite basic and it misses out on a lot of stuff, especially when you compare it with the goodies you could get with the international-spec bike. For example, we would’ve liked to see a crash guard, a flyscreen, a stronger skid plate, a centre stand and a chain cover at the least.
Additionally, the MT-15 also misses out on some performance-enhancing add-ons that the R15 V3.0 gets. These include the Daytona exhaust and stickier Metzeler tyres. However, Yamaha India could offer them in the near future. Watch this space.
