Good news for all you two-wheeler enthusiasts, Yamaha is all prepped to launch the much-awaited MT-15 in India tomorrow. After being teased with a bunch of spy images, the bike will officially be launched tomorrow at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Noida. This will be followed by a media ride, so stay tuned to Zigwheels for our first ride impressions.
As for the bike itself, it draws inspiration from its elder sibling, the MT-09. Apart from this, the bike features an all-digital instrument console, an LED tail light and a projector headlight flanked by LED DRLs. Powering the new offering is the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine seen on the R15 v3.0. It produces 19.3PS at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.7Nm at 8,500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed transmission aided by a slipper clutch. The India-spec version gets conventional telescopic forks and a box-type swingarm to keep costs in check.
In terms of pricing, we could expect the Yamaha MT-15 to be priced around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the KTM 125 Duke (1.17 lakh), Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (Rs 1.12 lakh) and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS (Rs 1.11 lakh, all ex-showroom Delhi).
