Yamaha updated its entry-level 150cc offering with its patented “Blue Core” technology and launched the SZ-RR Version 2.0. The new Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 has been priced at Rs 65,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new bike is an upgrade to the Yamaha SZ-RRR that was launched last year. Powering the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 is an all-new 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine churning out 12.1PS at 7,500rpm and peak torque of 12.8Nm at 6,000rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a 5-speed gearbox. Although the new powerplant is down on displacement in comparison to the older motor power output is similar. The new mill is similar to the one seen on the Yamaha FZ and Fazer Version 2.0 but instead of fuel injection like its siblings the Yamaha SZ-RRR Version 2.0 employs a carburettor for fuelling. According to Yamaha, the Blue Core tech has enabled the new motorcycle to improve its fuel efficiency by 11 per cent with respect to its predecessor. But Yamaha haven’t quoted any fuel efficiency figure for the Yamaha SZ-RRR.

Commenting on the occasion, Roy Kurian, Vice President, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said: “It is our pleasure to be launching the all new SZ-RRR Version 2.0 this festive season. With our breakthrough technology ‘Blue Core’ now inducted to our successful SZ-RRR model, we want to present our customers with advanced choices and fun riding in the city. Looking at the demand for standard segment commuter motorcycles which is projected at 1.1 million units in 2014, it was indeed ideal for us to delight customers in this segment with the launch of SZ-RRR Version 2.0.”

Suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by telescopic front forks and twin shock setup at rear. Braking is done by disc brakes at front and drum brakes at back . The bike tips the scale at 134kg and boasts a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. The Yamaha SZ-RRR Version 2.0 will be pitched against the Honda Unicorn, Bajaj Discover 150, Hero Hunk and Suzuki GS150R in our two-wheeler space.
