The Skoda Kushaq 1.5-litre TSI really impressed us with its good performance and driving dynamics. In fact, we would go on to say that the Kushaq is one of the most fun-to-drive SUVs in its segment. But what happens when we compare its performance with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos?
We brought in our trusty little VBOX and decided to have some fun behind all three SUVs with the dual-clutch automatic transmission, comparing them for their acceleration and fuel efficiency. But before we delve into the details, let’s look at their specifications.

The Kushaq, with its slightly larger turbo-petrol engine, manages to edge out the Seltos and Creta when it comes to numbers. Also, the Skoda’s engine comes with cylinder deactivation tech, shutting down two cylinders under light load for improved fuel economy.
Does all of this give the Skoda a deceptive advantage? Let’s find out.

Despite testing the Kushaq in wet weather, the Skoda managed to beat the Creta and Seltos by a whisker in the 0-100kmph run. In fact, we reckon the Kushaq could have done it in under 9 seconds if the conditions were dry.
Even during roll-on acceleration, the Kushaq didn’t manage to beat the Seltos. But, the Skoda posted an acceptable timing and the difference wouldn’t make a big difference in real world scenarios.

Thanks to the Kushaq’s cylinder deactivation technology shutting down two cylinders, the Skoda is the most fuel efficient in the City. However, the Kushaq is a bit more thirstier than the other two on the highway as all four cylinders were active.

We will be bringing a detailed comparison report of all three SUVs, so stay tuned.
