Making an entry into a segment that is fast evolving on every front from technology, to passenger comfort and overall performance, the premium compact sedan club is surely getting better, but at the same time is also getting bigger, thus putting India’s premium C segment buyers in a rather spoilt for choice sort of scenario, which I am sure they don’t really mind being in.
So, here is the newest member of the already well to do premium sedan bandwagon, a car that in its second generation version finally trots onto the Indian roads after building a hype around it launch though every medium possible. The new Hyundai Verna with its fluidic design sculpture has finally been launched by Hyundai in its Indian manifestation, and will offer buyers four engine options.
First up is the 1.4 litre petrol unit that makes 107PS@ 6300rpm and 138Nm of torque @ 5000 rpm. The diesel burner with the same capacity will also be on offer, which churns out 90PS@ 4000 rpm and a decent 224Nm of torque between 1750-2750 rpm.

Apart from this, Hyundai is also offering the Verna is a more powerful 1.6 litre petrol unit that makes 123PS @ 6300 rpm and churns out 158Nm of torque @ 4200 rpm as well as the 1.6 litre diesel unit that makes a solid 128PS @ 4000 rpm and generates 265Nm of torque between 1900-2750 rpm.
The 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units are also offered with automatic transmission. With this slew of engine and transmission options, Hyundai is sure that there is a Verna that will definitely suit your need.
The new Verna will be loaded with all you need to stay entertained when out for a long ride, like a high end music system with integrated USB, i-pod, Bluetooth and Aux-in connectivity, a driver information system, a rear view camera, a cooled glove box and a cluster ionizer fitted to the air-conditioning system in order to circulate clean air at all times. In terms of safety, the car comes fitted with six airbags, ABS and EBD.
Speaking at the launch of the much-awaited Fluidic Verna sedan, Mr. H W Park, MD & CEO, HMIL, said, “The Verna has been a trendsetter since it was first launched in 2006. We are confident that the all-new Fluidic Verna will create a new benchmark and raise the bar for the upper mid size cars in India. The launch today further reinstates our commitment to provide the best-in-class design, quality and technology to our customers here.”
A sedan that we can say from our drive experiences both abroad and here in India offers great handling and a comfortable ride in the city and on the highway will be at your disposal for the following prices based on the variant you choose to pick.
