As with any Mahindra test mule, the upcoming 2022 Scorpio SUV couldn’t escape the radar of automotive paparazzi. The latest set of spy shots give us a closer look at the SUV’s interior, revealing its features and details. So let’s get cracking without wasting any time.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will get quite a straightforward dashboard design, finished in black and brown. Plenty of silver highlights spruce up the overall ambience. Plus, parts like the analogue dials with a large 7-inch multi-info display and the steering wheel have been lifted from the XUV700

Now to another important aspect of the Scorpio – its space. The SUV’s second row bench, like before, seems to be spacious, both in terms of knee room and headroom. But what seems to be disappointing is the boot space with all rows up that seems to accommodate just a couple of soft bags. Plus, the picture above confirms the fact that the SUV gets forward facing seats, same like the higher variants of the existing car.

Then there are the features, and spy shots confirm a host of firsts for Scorpio, including roof mounted speakers, connected car tech, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, and a single-pane sunroof. Other notable features include cruise control, keyless entry with push button start, and auto headlights and wipers.

Passenger safety should be taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control.

The Scorpio will share its 2.2-litre diesel and 2-litre turbo-petrol engines with the XUV700 and Thar, albeit in a different tune. Both motors should get 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions as well as rear-wheel and four-wheel drive (with low range gearbox).

The new Scorpio is expected to break cover in June on its 20th year anniversary. Expect it to start from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), putting it in contention with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor.
