Suzuki has just teased the arrival of its new adventure motorcycle on its social media platforms; and after careful examination, we deduced that this is going to be the V-Strom 250 that the Japanese bikemaker has been working on for the past few years. Given the growing trend of adventure motorcycles in the Indian market, it makes sense for Suzuki to have its own contender.
Not much can be seen on the V-Strom 250’s teaser besides the glimpse that we get of the engine, which has the Gixxer 250’s bronze casing. Yep, Suzuki will power this adventure with the Gixxer’s 249cc mill that makes 26.5PS and 22.2Nm. While we aren’t sure whether the engine tune will be changed to suit the V-Strom, we do think that the stock tune of the Gixxer was decent enough for spending long hours in the saddle.
Speaking of which, Suzuki will need to make changes to the suspension tune if it is going to borrow the components as well from the Gixxer 250. The naked’s sportiness does compromise a tad bit on ride quality, and for an adventure machine, a slightly supple experience would be preferred. It might just be the angle but the swingarm does seem to be slightly longer than the Gixxer’s, which should aid in extra off-roading stability.
Disc brakes at both ends are a given and so is dual-channel ABS. However, we feel that Suzuki should provide switchable ABS to keep its adventure credentials high.

Finally, we think Suzuki might just adopt the same design language for the V-Strom 250 as seen on the new V-Strom 1050. The tall slim design with a sharper beak does give you the impression that Suzuki’s large adventure bike means business. So, hopefully this one should as well.
Expect Suzuki to launch the V-Strom 250 in the coming few weeks with the prices around Rs 2.10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the KTM 250 Adventure, Benelli TRK 251 and the recently launched Royal Enfield Scram 411.
