Set to join the electric revolution, the Suzuki Burgman Electric is nearing its final stages of testing. The upcoming electric scooter was spotted on the streets of Pune. Till now, we had only seen these in north India. One of the reasons it could be here in Pune is to undergo the mandatory homologation testing at ARAI.
The Burgman Street 125 won our 125cc mega comparison, convincingly outscoring other scooters in comfort, features and performance. Hence, we have high hopes from its electric counterpart as well. While details are still scarce, expect Suzuki to provide a robust electric system that’s not only peppy but also pretty frugal.
The Burgman Street Electric will be joining the league of highly competent electric scooters that are already in or will soon be in the market. The Ather 450X and the TVS iQube Electric have benefitted quite a lot from the recent FAME 2 subsidy revision and new state-wise subsidy plans. With the Ola Scooter, Simple One, and the Hero-Gogoro scooter joining the fray soon, Indians will find themselves spoilt for choice. Time to go green? We certainly think so.
