Kawasaki has put up a teaser on social media about a certain ‘The Original Icon’. And while that points to the W series of motorcycles, Kawasaki mentioning ‘The 1965 Legacy’ in the caption confirms that, because 1965 was the year when the W series of Kawasaki bikes came into existence.
This one will likely be a special edition of the cheapest Kawasaki bike, the W175. Given that the bike will be ‘back in a vibrant avatar’, we think the updated W175 could get alloy wheels, fatter tyres and maybe a brighter paint scheme, all to make it look more modern. Expect these changes to carry a premium of around Rs 15,000 over the Candy Persimmon Red W175, which currently costs Rs 1,49,000. The base W175, meanwhile, costs Rs 1,47,000 (both ex-showroom India). Primarily, the W175 rivals the Yamaha FZ-X. It also acts as the smaller-engined, Japanese alternative to the Royal Enfield Bullet 350.
