We have been waiting for quite some time now for Suzuki to bring the updated version of its V-Strom 650XT adventure motorcycle to India. That time could be soon arriving as homologation documents of the bike, as well as its naked sibling, the SV650, have just surfaced in Europe. And there’s a lot of positive news to take from it.
The 645cc V-twin engine still manages to put out 71PS. Peak torque rating still remains a mystery but the good news is that the kerb weight of the motorcycle has not gone up. The base version (the one with alloy wheels and not sold in India) continues to weigh 213kg. The 650XT trim (the one available here) then should also weigh just as much as before, i.e. 216kg.
Suzuki could be sprucing up the model with new colours like the deep blue on we saw on the fully kitted 650XT Adventure model last year. We hope that the yellow colour option with gold rims remains but it could do with a refreshed graphic scheme. Expect it to still be competitively priced, especially since its primary rival, the Kawasaki Versys 650, has only received a price hike of Rs 10,000.
Buoyed by the success of the ADV, Suzuki India was considering bringing the SV650 here as well. It has received its own Euro 5 homologation and could be the next new big bike from Hamamatsu in India.
