Citroen India has started the teaser campaign for its upcoming launch, the Basalt. The latest teaser from the French brand gives us a glimpse into the Tata Curvv rival’s cabin. Citroen is expected to take the wraps off the Basalt in August, with its launch expected shortly after. Let’s see what we can discern about the upcoming Basalt’s cabin in this report.
Based on the latest teaser, we can confirm that the Citroen Basalt’s dashboard layout will be similar to the C3 and C3 Aircross. This means it will get the large floating touchscreen infotainment system, but the trim in the dashboard is expected to get a different colour scheme for its uniqueness.
We can also notice from the teaser that the seats get a beige hue, which should open up the sense of space. And lastly, there is a centre armrest between both the front seats for added comfort.
The Citroen Basalt will get almost all the features from the C3 Aircross, including the 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, keyless entry and power windows.
Apart from that, we hope it comes with additional niceties such as automatic climate control, cruise control and a wireless phone charger.
Passenger safety should be taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with a parking camera, electronic stability control and hill start assist.
Underneath the hood, the Basalt is expected to get the 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, teamed with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. We also wouldn’t discount the availability of the 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the lower-spec variants.
Prices of the Citroen Basalt are expected to start from around the Rs 10 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will go head-on against the soon-to-be-launched Tata Curvv, while being a SUV-coupe alternative to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq.
