Kia Carens: Trim-wise Features And Powertrain Options

Kia Motors India has confirmed the Carens’ details, including its trims, dimensions, and powertrain options. The MPV will come in five broad trims: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. Engine options are: 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, 115PS 1.5-litre petrol, and 115PS 1.5-litre diesel. 

In this report, we take you through the upcoming MPV’s trim-wise features and powertrain options: 

Premium 

Available Powertrains: 1.5-litre NA petrol-MT, 1.5-litre diesel-MT, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol-MT

Seating Options: Only 7-seater 

The Premium is the entry-level trim, and it gets all the engine options coupled to a manual transmission. Features on offer include:

• 15-inch steel wheels with wheel cover (1.5-litre petrol)

• 16-inch steel wheels with wheel cover (1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel)

• Black and beige interior with Indigo Blue accents

• 7.5-inch digitised driver’s display

• One-touch electric tumble for second-row seats

• Height-adjustable driver’s seat

• Power windows

• Roof-mounted AC vents for second and third row

• 12v power socket and five USB-C charging points

• Seat back pockets

• Roof-mounted lamps for all rows

• Six airbags

• ABS with EBD

• Rear parking sensors

• ISOFIX child seat mounts

• Electronic stability control

• Tyre pressure monitoring system

• All four wheels with disc brakes

Prestige 

Available Powertrains: 1.5-litre NA petrol-MT, 1.5-litre diesel-MT, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol-MT

Seating Options: Only 7-seater 

This is the top-spec trim for the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine. The Prestige trim packs the following features over and above the Premium:

• 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

• Steering mounted audio controls

Prestige Plus 

Available Powertrains: 1.5-litre diesel-MT, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol-MT/DCT

Seating Options: Only 7-seater 

The Prestige Plus is the entry-level trim if you want an automatic variant; it gets the choice of a 7-speed DCT with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. Features on offer include:

• LED Tail lamps

• 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels

• Automatic climate control

• Electric folding ORVMs

• Smart key with push-button and remote-engine start 

• Cruise control

• Rear wiper and washer

Luxury 

Available Powertrains: 1.5-litre diesel-MT, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol-MT

Seating Options: Only 7-seater 

The Luxury sits just below the top-spec Luxury Plus. It features:

• LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators

• 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system

• 64-colour ambient lighting

• Air purifier with virus and bacteria protection

• Auto-dimming IRVM

Luxury Plus 

Available Powertrains: 1.5-litre diesel-MT/AT, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol-MT/DCT

Seating Options:  7-seater and 6-seater

If you want a 6-seating Carens, your only choice is the top-of-the-range Luxury Plus. Also, this is the only trim to get the diesel-AT powertrain combine. Features include:

• Single-pane sunroof

• 8-speaker Bose sound system

• Ventilated front Seats

• LED interior lighting for all three rows

• Rear door puddle lamps projecting the ‘Kia’ logo

• Rain sensing wipers

• Wireless phone charger

• Paddle shifters (DCT, AT Only)

• Drive mode-linked ambient lighting (DCT,AT only)

Please Note:  

• Official bookings for the Kia Carens will begin from January 14, 2022. 

• Expected launch in the first quarter of 2022. 

• Will be offered in eight body colours, including three new shades: Sparkling Silver, Imperial Blue, and Moss Brown. 

• Prices will likely start from Rs 14 lakh

• Will rival the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, and select trims of the Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.
