The Honda Activa 125 breaches the 4,000km mark and it’s time to bid farewell to what I feel is quite an impressive 125cc offering. A recent visit to the service centre meant that the Activa 125 was running more smoothly than ever. It was facing cold starting issues but gladly the service personals took care of it and the Honda Activa 125 didn’t have any trouble cranking up early morning. On the performance front, the Honda Activa 125 continues to impress with its peppy powerplant and nimble handling dynamics. Ride quality was an Achilles heel for the Activa owing to its trailing link front suspension setup that resulted in a jittery ride. Gladly the telescopic forks on the Honda Activa 125 addresses this issue as it rides over undulated surfaces without any effort but the rear suspension setup is a bit stiff.
The Honda Activa 125 continues to return an impressive fuel efficiency of 47kmpl. The efficiency figure I feel can easily climb above the 50kmpl mark if ridden in a sedate fashion and on roads with less traffic. Despite the minor hiccups, my almost seven month journey with the Honda Activa 125 has been a pleasurable one and it has generated a new found respect for scooters in general owing to its ease of use and versatility. But it’s time to bid adieu to the Activa 125 as it heads back to Honda to make way for the new Unicorn 160.
