True to its workhorse nature, the Honda Livo continues its daily duty of transporting me to work and back. And as I have started clocking more kilometres on the Livo my respect for the bike continues to grow. Let me start with the seating position, the commuter-ish centre-set foot pegs and tall handle bar result in a comfortable riding posture which means I don’t feel drained by the time I reach office. Powering the motorcycle is a 110cc motor as seen on the Dream series that results in average performance. I would have preferred few extra ponies as Livo has been positioned as a premium commuter motorcycle. The bike feels happy cruising at speed around 65kmph but once you go past it, the engine feels strained and vibrations start seeping in. Also on inclined surfaces the bike feels a bit out of breath and few extra dollops of torque would be better.
The 4-speed gearbox does a fair job except for sometimes while engaging 1st gear when one needs a firm push on the pedal. Also on few occasions I have encountered false neutral which is a bit irritating. Post monsoon, the roads of Mumbai have taken a battering but gladly the Honda Livo tackled them effortlessly and my back didn’t go for a toss. The Honda Livo is extremely pillion friendly with long and wide saddle being appreciated by my friends. Talking about mileage, the Livo returned us 61.4kmpl overall which is commendable considering the traffic conditions on my daily commute route. Other minor shortcomings are the weak horn brighter headlight would have been beneficial.
Date Acquired: July 2015
Total km: 2,127km
Overall fuel efficiency: 61.4kmpl (As Tested)
Cheers: Comfortable riding posture, Suspension, Pillion friendly
Sneers: Notchy gearbox, Brighter headlight
