The Rynox Air GT riding pants are lightweight, affordable and a comfortable option for use in warm-weather conditions. They are said to offer good protection, ventilation, and versatility so we put them to the test over the last few months to bring you a detailed review.
The Rynox Air GT Pants have been designed with a focus on ventilation and lightweight construction, making them ideal for hot climates. They feature a polyester mesh chassis, which provides good airflow, and also gets reinforced panels in high-impact zones for better durability. These pants also get adjustable waist straps and a pre-curved design for a comfortable riding posture. Overall, they look sleek and, unlike many of the older Rynox riding pants, also have stretch panels, making them comfortable while in the saddle for long hours.
These pants also get adjustable waist straps and a pre-curved design for a comfortable riding posture. Additionally, it gets reflective panels for visibility in low-light conditions and abrasion-resistant fabric on the high-wear areas to give riders more confidence.
The Air GT Pants have large mesh panels on the thighs and calves, which make long rides in hot weather far more comfortable. They also get adjustable leg cuffs and stretch panels which enhance the fit and mobility. They are available in 8 sizes, from S to 5XL, appealing to a wide range of body types and riding styles. I have used these pants on the road and for off-road use as well, and they were accommodating in both scenarios.
When it comes to the fitting, these pants fit really snugly. Compared to the Rynox Airtex pants I have used earlier, the fit was tighter in the same S size. The snug fit is nice but it means that riders won't be able to wear them over their riding boots. Another highlight of these pants is how lightweight they feel, making them good for short tours as well. For a perfect fit, we suggest that riders head to a Rynox store and try out a pair as they might prefer going for a larger size if they prefer a roomier fit.
Rynox has equipped these pants with CE Level 2 knee protectors and hip protectors as standard. It uses the KneeSlap velcro system for the knee protectors which are height-adjustable for a precise fit.
Personally, I would have preferred built-in pockets for the knee protectors but this system makes it really easy when you need to remove the protectors to wash the pants. The coverage for the hips is decent and good for riding pants in this price range.
While the Air GT Pants are great in hot weather, they can also be purchased with a removable rain liner, making them functional during unexpected rains. These are not thermal pants, so riders in colder climates may need additional layering.
On my recent ride through Ladakh, I used these pants with a thermal liner underneath and they held up without any issues. If it got slightly colder, I put on the rain liner outside and was immediately good to go. So with just two additional layers that have to be purchased separately, they are fairly good for use in colder weather as well.
The pants feature two waterproof zippered pockets, which are sufficient for essentials like a mobile phone, wallet, or keys. While these pockets are functional, riders who prefer carrying more items on the go might find the storage limited. The zippers of these pockets do get jammed, so riders will have to take care while using them as they easily latch onto the fabric inside and get stuck.
Priced at Rs 5,850, the Rynox Air GT Pants are really good value for money; an excellent choice for riders that want a comfortable and ventilated pair of pants for warm conditions. They offer a good balance of protection, build quality, and versatility for the competitive price point they are being offered at. While they may not be ideal for colder climates or long touring with significant storage needs, they excel as a reliable, everyday riding option.
