Have you been to the Suzuki Gixxer website lately? You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see Suzuki Motorcycle India flaunt almost half a dozen awards on its home page. Already? And there are a still a few more awards to go. Like the, ahem, prestigious 2014 ZigWheels Awards. Impressive!
Right from our first impression of the bike in September last year, we’ve been hoping to get the Suzuki Gixxer for long term use. There are a few bikes in its segment which have managed to get us this excited. And finally it is here, at the ZigWheels garage.
Yes, it’s not a perfect bike and we’ll discuss the drawbacks later. But the Suzuki Gixxer looks good from most angles, has a refined 14.8PS, 154.9cc motor with smooth power delivery and is fairly quick, considering its segment. And it’s the great handling; comfortable ride quality and superb grip which makes this bike stand out from its competition.
In the last couple of weeks, we’ve ridden the bike in the city and even on the highway, as you might have noticed it in the Honda Unicorn 160 comparison story. The most fun we had on a Suzuki Gixxer (another bike provided by Suzuki) was during the ZigWheels Award’s jury round held at the MMSC race track in Chennai, which has impressed us further. No wonder the Suzuki Gixxer has clenched so many awards already.
