Engine:

The biggest talking point about the new Honda Unicorn 160 is its powerplant. The Honda Unicorn 160 is powered by a 163cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor churning out 14.6PS of maximum power and 14.6Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the Bajaj Pulsar 150’s 149cc mill generates 15PS and 12.5Nm of torque. While the Hero Hunk’s 149.2cc, air-cooled engine pumps out 14.4PS of power and 12.8Nm of torque.

Talking about transmission, all the above three motorcycles employ a 5-speed gearbox to transmit power to the rear wheel in a one-down and four-up pattern. From the above statistics it is clear that the Bajaj Pulsar is marginally the most powerful offering among the trio. In terms of torque ratings, the Honda Unicorn 160 leads the charge with 14.6Nm almost 2Nm more than its rivals. 

At 135kg, the Honda Unicorn is significantly lighter than its rivals as the Bajaj Pulsar 150 tips the scale at 144kg while the Hero Hunk weighs a hefty 147kg. This should give the Honda Unicorn 160 advantage in terms of power-to-weight ratio.

Features:

Talking about features, the Honda Unicorn 160 is the only bike out of the trio to feature an all-digital instrument console whereas the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and Hero come equipped with a part-digital-part-analogue instrument cluster. The Honda Unicorn 160 sports a monoshock suspension setup at rear while the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and Hero Hunk feature a twin-shock, gas reservoir suspension.

The Hero Hunk is the only motorcycle to offer disc brakes at front and rear as an option while the Honda Unicorn 160 gets CBS (combi braking system) as an optional extra. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 sports a clip-on handle bars unlike the conventional single piece handlebar as seen on the Honda Unicorn 160 and Hero Hunk. 

Hero Hunk

Dimensions:

The Hero Hunk has a wheelbase of 1,325mm whereas the Honda Unicorn 160 has a wheelbase of 1,324mm and the Bajaj Pulsar 150 at 1,320mm. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 has the highest ground clearance at 165mm followed by the Honda Unicorn 160 at 150mmand the Hero Hunk has the least at 145mm. The Bajaj Pulsar 15 also has the largest fuel tank capacity at 15 litres while the Hero Hunk has 12.2 litres and the Honda Unicorn 160 has 12 litres. Talking about chassis, all the three bikes employ a tubular diamond type frame with telescopic forks at front.

Fuel Efficiency & Pricing:

The Bajaj Pulsar has the highest fuel efficiency among the trio as the Chakan based manufacturer claims 65kmpl while Japanese two-wheeler giant claims 62kmpl for the Unicorn 160 while Hero MotoCorp hasn’t divulged the fuel efficiency figure for the Hunk. 

The Hero Hunk is the cheapest offering at Rs 67,175 for the standard variant while the disc brake version retails for Rs 70,175. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 comes second in list at Rs 68,180. The Honda Unicorn 160 is marginally expensive than the Pulsar 150 at Rs 69,350. The Honda Unicorn 160 with optional CBS carries a sticker price of Rs 74,414.
