Suzuki Motorcycle India has tasted success in the scooter segment with the Suzuki Access, which it offers in the Standard and the slightly premium Special Edition variants. Although, the Japanese automobile major introduced the trendy Suzuki Swish 125cc scooter in India, which shares plenty of cycle-parts with the popular Suzuki Access, it could not skyrocket the scale graph.
To give the Suzuki Swish a shot in the arm, the company is giving the gearless scooter a makeover which will be launched in January 2015. Sources close to the development revealed that the 2015 Suzuki Swish facelift might be the first scooter from Suzuki Motorcycle India to feature a front disc brake, also expect a digital instrument console, alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.
In terms of styling, Suzuki Motorcycle India is giving the 125cc scooter a mild makeover, to make the Suzuki Swish more youthful and ready to take on the likes of Yamaha Ray Z and Honda Dio.
There’s not much change expected on the mechanical front, as the 2015 Suzuki Swish would continue to sport a 125cc air-cooled motor, with a power output of 8.7PS and torque rating of 9.8Nm, mated to a CVT.
The current version of the scooter retails at Rs 57,620 (OTR, Mumbai) and we expect the 2015 Suzuki Swish to cost marginally more.
